Abstract

  • Inflation in Kendari City in March 2020 was 0.06 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 103.15. Out of 90 cities, 43 cities experienced inflation and 47 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Lhokseumawe City (Aceh Province) by 0.64 percent with CPI 104.20 and the lowest inflation was recorded in Surabaya City (East Java), Surakarta City (Central Java), and Pekanbaru City (Riau) respectively 0.01 percent with CPI 104.26, 103.76 and 103.40, respectively.
  •  Inflation that occurred in Kendari City was caused by an increase in the price index in the group of personal care and other services 1.72 percent; household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance 0.49 percent; food and beverage / restaurant supply 0.34 percent; clothing and footwear 0.13 percent; recreation, sports, and culture 0.05 percent; and the health sub-group and the information, communication and financial services sub-group respectively 0.02 percent. The expenditure groups that experienced a decrease in index include transportation 0.74 percent; food, beverages, and tobacco 0.04 percent; and housing, water, electricity and household fuels 0.01 percent. While the education expenditure group did not change / was relatively stable.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation are rice, gold jewelery, anchovies, carrots, chicken eggs, sugar, water spinach, instant dry noodles, live chicken, and rice with side dishes.
  • Commodities contributing to deflation are katamba fish, mackerel / bloated fish / banyar fish / gembolo fish / aso-aso fish, red chili peppers, red onions, chicken meat, skipjack fish / scales, moringa leaves, mackerel / bloated fish , air transportation, and cayenne pepper.
